Intro

This blog is going to be all about scammers. I will post my story (well, the link to it, it is the sole post on anther blog), but I want to go farther, I will post advice as to how to tell that s/he might be a scammer, the signs to look for, the URL to complain to the FBI, and if you have a scammer story, the email to sent it to (mine) and I will post it on here (if that is what you want). I am tired of them and need to do my part to protect other people from having to go through what I went through and am still going through.

  1. I think a good place for people to start is to look at http://www.snopes.com as they have lots of urban legens, scams, internet & email askings, and have whether the stories are false partially true or true.

I tend to check there everytime a new email or facebook post is circulating.

My hints for seeing if they're scams or not is to ask the person sending this if they have actually witnessed this themselves, check the name on emails (if they sound official) to the actual place they are supposed to come from (ie if it's from a police officer, check to see if there is really an officer so and so on that police force - it's usually easy to check online, or to send a quick email to the police force to check it), recognize Phishing schemes trying to get your personal info by pretending to be from a reputable source (always check the sender from the options tool on Outlook to see who is REALLY sending the email).

And as for at the door, don't buy anything, there or over the phone. You just never know who these people are and if they are scamming you. Don't forget just because they say call this phone number to see if they're legit, doesn't mean their buddy isn't standing at a phone ready to take the calls.

Thanks for starting this site Akiba
